Dansco Coin Albums have been a trusted companion for both seasoned numismatists and budding coin collectors, providing a reliable storage solution. The Bust Dime 1796-1837 Dansco Album, housed in a 3/4″ binder, is specifically designed to hold and display a collection of up to 48 coins. With 4 Dansco pages (series: 6121-1 to 6121-4), this album offers a comprehensive presentation of all Draped and Capped Bust dimes minted from 1796 to 1837.

The Philadelphia Mint exclusively minted all Bust dimes, highlighting their historical significance within the American numismatic landscape. Dansco Coin Albums further enhance the preservation and presentation of these valuable coins. The pages of the album are attached with metal screws, ensuring easy addition and replacement of coins as desired.

All Bust dimes, both Draped and Capped, were composed of 89.24% silver and 10.76% copper. These coins weighed 2.70 grams and had varying diameters. Draped Bust dimes measured 19 mm in diameter, while Capped Bust coins minted from 1809 to 1827 measured approximately 18.8 mm. The Capped Bust dimes struck from 1828 to 1837 had a slightly reduced diameter of approximately 18.5 mm.

Liberty dimes, consisting of 90% silver and 10% copper, exhibit a diameter of 17.9 mm and weigh 2.50 grams. These dimes were minted at the Philadelphia, Denver, New Orleans, and San Francisco Mints, further enriching their historical significance.

The Mercury dime’s design, created by Adolph A. Weinman, is widely regarded as one of the most aesthetically pleasing designs ever featured on U.S. coins. The obverse of the coin showcases the profile of Liberty wearing a cap adorned with wings, symbolizing the freedom of thought.

From 1946 to 1964, Roosevelt dimes were composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, weighing 2.50 grams each. However, starting from 1965 and continuing to the present day, the composition shifted to a pure copper inner core with an outer layer consisting of 75% copper and 25% nickel, resulting in a weight of 2.27 grams per coin. Regardless of the composition, all Roosevelt dimes maintain a uniform diameter of 17.9 mm.
