Historical Significance:
Struck during a time of monetary reform, this peso was minted to the specifications of the Latin Monetary Union, making it internationally recognizable. Due to Honduras’ crude refining practices, many coins contained small traces of gold. As a result, by 1920, approximately 90% of these pesos were melted, making survivors especially rare.
