CVC & Collectables presents the 1909 Lincoln Wheat Cent in Brilliant Uncirculated (Red/Brown) condition. Struck during the debut year of the Lincoln cent series, this historic first-year issue comes from the Philadelphia Mint and reflects the final design issued after the removal of the “V.D.B.” initials from the reverse.
With a blend of original red luster and mellowed brown patina, this Red/Brown example offers outstanding visual character and sharp detail at an accessible price point.

Historical Significance
Released in 1909 to honor Abraham Lincoln’s 100th birthday, this cent marked a new era in U.S. coinage — the first regular-issue coin to feature an actual historical figure. The non-VDB variety, like this one, followed public criticism of the designer’s initials on the original reverse, resulting in a simplified design that continued through much of 1909.
