Peace Dollar History
The Peace Dollar was introduced in 1921 to commemorate the restoration of peace following World War I. Anthony de Francisci’s design departed from the traditional heraldic imagery of earlier U.S. silver dollars, presenting Liberty in a modern style and an eagle peacefully resting above the word PEACE.
The 1924-S had a relatively low mintage of 1,728,000 coins, considerably fewer than many other issues in the series. Mint State examples are particularly popular with collectors assembling certified Peace Dollar sets.
Condition
Certified NGC MS62, this coin remains fully Mint State with no circulation wear. The grade represents an Uncirculated example with noticeable contact marks or other minor imperfections consistent with the MS62 level.
