Historical Significance
Released July 19, 1999, Georgia’s quarter honored the 4th state to ratify the Constitution and capped the second release group of the brand-new State Quarters Program.
The peach celebrates Georgia’s agricultural identity as the “Peach State,” while the live oak sprigs salute the state tree. The motto “Wisdom, Justice, Moderation,” from the state seal, reflects Georgia’s civic ideals—captured here in a premium silver proof format that was never issued for circulation.
