Historical Significance
This design highlights the granaries above the Nankoweap Delta in Marble Canyon, used to store food and seeds between 1050 and 1150 A.D.—a reminder that the Grand Canyon preserves deep human history as well as breathtaking geology. The U.S. Mint also notes the canyon’s immense scale and that it was first established as a national site on February 20, 1893.
Collectibility
With a reported Philadelphia mintage of 34,800,000, the 2010-P Grand Canyon quarter is an obtainable album coin, yet still a favorite for collectors building full ATB 2010 sets or Arizona-themed type runs.
