The United States Mint released the 2025 Ida B. Wells quarter on February 4, 2025, as part of the American Women Quarters Program, which honors significant contributions by American women. This quarter is the 16th in the series and is available in rolls and bags containing coins minted at the Philadelphia (P) and Denver (D) facilities.
Design Details:

Obverse (Heads): Features a portrait of George Washington, originally sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser to commemorate Washington’s 200th birthday. This design was recommended for the 1932 quarter but was not used until this series.​

Reverse (Tails): Depicts Ida B. Wells gazing confidently toward the future, symbolizing her courage and vision. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IDA B. WELLS,” “25 CENTS,” and “JOURNALIST, SUFFRAGIST, CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST.” The design was created by Artistic Infusion Program Designer Elana Hagler and sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill.

About Ida B. Wells:
Ida B. Wells (1862–1931) was a pioneering African American journalist, educator, and early leader in the civil rights movement. She was a founding member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and is renowned for her courageous reporting on the violence and injustices faced by African Americans, particularly her anti-lynching crusade. Wells’s relentless pursuit of justice and equality has left an indelible mark on American history.​
