1943-44 French Indo China Tael LM-433 NGC MS 61

$5,499.99

Commissioned by the French Customs and Finance Administration, these coins were produced by the Hanoi Mint to support opium purchases in Laos and Tonkin during the final phase of colonial control in Southeast Asia. The tael, modeled on traditional Chinese silver standards, was intended to circulate alongside sycees and other regional trade silver during wartime economic strain. Though a mintage was authorized, actual production was low, and few survive in Mint State.
