Vintage / Art
Vintage silver typically refers to bullion items — often art bars and rounds from the 1960s through the 1980s — struck by private mints such as Engelhard, Johnson Matthey, and Hamilton Mint. These pieces often carried limited-production designs (holiday themes, company logos, commemoratives, etc.) and were never mass-produced to the same extent as modern bullion. Because they were made in smaller batches and not always widely saved, vintage art silver is much scarcer than today’s generic bullion.
