Ferdinand VII History:
Ferdinand VII ruled Spain during an exceptionally turbulent period that included the Napoleonic occupation of Spain and the independence movements throughout Spanish America. Although restored to the Spanish throne in 1814, his government was unable to prevent the loss of much of Spain’s American empire. Mexico’s independence in 1821 represented one of the most consequential losses of his reign.
