Historical Significance
Struck during the same year as the famous VDB variety, this version of the 1909 Lincoln cent was issued after the removal of designer Victor David Brenner’s initials. The decision was made in response to public criticism over the initials’ prominent placement. As a result, two distinct types exist for 1909, both of which are highly collectible.
