The 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent was struck during the first year of the Lincoln cent series and quickly became controversial due to the prominent placement of Brenner’s initials. Public criticism led to their removal, making this version extremely short-lived and highly collectible. With fewer than half a million struck, its scarcity has only increased over time.
