What a great opportunity to collect a piece of history. Jefferson Burdick referenced them as “P2” for his American Card Catalog.
- 204 total pins in complete set
- 152 total players / 204 set
- Pins with Large Letters more rare
- Super Unique Collectable Pins
Between 1910 and 1912, the American Tobacco Company branched out from the production of trading cards and created the Sweet Caporal Pins (P2) series. The set consists of 152 sepia-toned pins that measure 7/8” in diameter. However, there are numerous “large” letter and “small” letter variations, displaying the identical image on each, that increase the number of pins in the full set to be 204 – (153 – “small” /51 – “large”). There are 50 players that do not boast the second variation and there are two players (Roger Bresnahan and Bobby Wallace) with three pin variations.
