Most commonly, two uncut sheet of currency stock enter the printing press simultaneously with one on top of another, causing the bottom sheet to miss the impression. Another cause of the error is the press operator shutting down the presses in the middle of the run or the printing plate contacting the currency paper and retracting prematurely. As least likely caused, an entire stack of currency sheets is advanced from one location to another after accidently bypassing a printing operation.
