Historical Significance
Colorado was the 38th state admitted to the Union, and this design became the 38th coin issued in the 50 State Quarters Program. It highlights the mountain scenery most closely associated with the state’s identity, giving the coin broad appeal with both State Quarter collectors and regional collectors.
Collectibility
This silver proof issue was included in the 2006 United States Mint 50 State Quarters Silver Proof Set, which featured all five 2006 State Quarters struck in 90% silver. Its lower mintage than the clad proof version, silver composition, and scenic reverse make it a desirable addition to modern silver proof quarter sets.
