CVC & Collectables proudly presents the AD 117-138 Hadrian Roman Empire AR Denarius NGC CH XF. Hadrian (born January 24, 76 -died July 10, 138, Baiae, near Naples. Became a Roman emperor on 117–138, the emperor Trajan’s cousin and successor, who was a cultivated admirer of Greek civilization and who unified and consolidated Rome’s vast empire. He was the third of the so-called Five Good Emperors. Hadrian came to be an emperor after an unfortunate event but it was definitely not an easy road.

In 117, when Trajan began his journey westward, Hadrian was left in charge of the army in Syria. August 9, Hadrian learned that Trajan had adopted him, this is a sign of succession. Next few days after he found out that Trajan had died on his way to Rome, where the army he was entrusted to proclaimed him emperor.
