Historical Significance
Introduced in 1990, the Kookaburra series became one of the first major bullion programs to feature a new reverse design every year. The 1992 issue marked an important transition for the series, as Perth Mint expanded the program beyond the original 1 oz format and introduced additional sizes including 2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 kilogram coins.
Collectibility
The 1992 1 oz Silver Kookaburra had a reported bullion mintage of 219,694 pieces, making it one of the scarcer early Kookaburra issues and considerably rarer than modern releases capped at hundreds of thousands of coins annually. Early-date Kookaburras are highly sought after by collectors assembling complete date runs of the series.
