Historical Note
Released October 14, 2005, West Virginia’s quarter is the 35th coin in the 50 State Quarters Program and highlights the state’s scenic New River Gorge. West Virginia was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863—reflected by the “1863” inscription on the reverse.
