Historical Significance
North Dakota’s quarter design reflects the state’s agricultural roots and frontier identity. The American bison symbolizes the Great Plains and early westward expansion, while the sunflowers represent the region’s natural beauty and farming legacy. The inscription “Peace Garden State” refers to the International Peace Garden shared by North Dakota and Canada, emphasizing unity and cooperation.
Collectibility
The 2006-D North Dakota State Quarter is a staple issue for State Quarter collectors, date-and-mint enthusiasts, and educational collections. While widely available in circulated condition, higher-grade uncirculated examples remain desirable for completing Denver Mint sets or assembling pristine 50 State Quarters albums.
