Obverse:
Designed by Elana Hagler and sculpted by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, the obverse features a bristlecone pine, a species capable of surviving for thousands of years in extremely harsh environments. The design represents the perseverance of American liberty and includes the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “WE SHALL PERSEVERE,” and “2023.”
Reverse:
Designed and sculpted by John P. McGraw, the reverse depicts a young bald eagle standing on a rocky outcropping moments before taking flight. The inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” surrounds the design.
