CVC & Collectables presents this AD 276-282 Roman Empire Probus, BI Aurelianianus, Rev Emperor NGC MS. The obverse depicts the bust of Probus, laureate, draped, and cuirassed, facing right. Reverse depicts an Emperor horseback being captive, RIC V 887.

Marcus Aurelius Probus lived from AD 232 to 282. Probus rised to power with distinction in the army and apparently was eastern praetorian prefect (status) when his troops proclaimed him emperor in opposition to Florian, who was killed by his own men.

His fall came down from encouraging the planting of vineyards in Gaul, Spain, and Britain. This led his troops to resent him from his strict discipline being detailed to agricultural reclamation work in the Balkans. Leading to his own men killing him.
