Historical Significance
The Franklin Half Dollar series ran from 1948 until 1963, replacing the Walking Liberty Half and showcasing Founding Father Benjamin Franklin on U.S. circulating coinage for the first time. The Liberty Bell on the reverse underscores Franklin’s role in America’s Revolutionary era. The series ended abruptly in 1963 after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, making these the last regular-issue U.S. halves before the Kennedy design.
Collectibility & Bullion Appeal
Franklin halves occupy a sweet spot for both collectors and stackers. Sold here by face value, they’re often purchased for their silver content, yet many enjoy checking dates and mintmarks for better pieces. Expect honest circulation wear typical of 90% silver coinage; conditions will vary by lot, and larger orders may receive a wider mix of dates and mints. Multiple quantities will be combined for convenient storage and stacking.
