About Frederick Douglass National Historic Site
Located in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, D.C., the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site preserves Cedar Hill, the final home of Frederick Douglass. Born into slavery in 1818, Douglass escaped bondage and became one of the most prominent voices for abolition, civil rights, and equality in American history. Cedar Hill served as his residence from 1877 until his death in 1895 and remains an enduring symbol of his legacy.
Collectibility
With a final collector mintage of 17,314 pieces, the 2017-P Frederick Douglass is one of the lower-mintage issues in the America the Beautiful series. Its historical importance, distinctive design, and tribute to one of America’s most influential figures make it a standout addition for both ATB collectors and those interested in American history. Coins accompanied by their original U.S. Mint box and Certificate of Authenticity are especially desirable.
