Historical Significance
The 2025 Mint Set closes two long stories at once. It is the final year of the American Women Quarters™ Program (2022–2025), with five one-year-only designs that spotlight Ida B. Wells, Juliette Gordon Low, Dr. Vera Rubin, Stacey Park Milbern, and Althea Gibson.
Just as important, 2025 is now recognized as the end of the penny era for circulation. On November 12, 2025, the U.S. Mint held a ceremonial final strike of the circulating Lincoln cent at Philadelphia, ending a 232-year production run that began in the 1790s. After that point, cents were suspended for circulation due to their high production cost; only limited collector (numismatic) versions may continue.
That makes the 2025 Lincoln cent in this Uncirculated Set the last date of the U.S. penny for circulation, captured here in a premium Mint finish alongside the year’s other circulating denominations.
The set also includes the 2025 Native American $1 honoring Mary Kawena Pukui, the Hawaiian scholar and cultural historian whose work preserved and revitalized the Native Hawaiian language—reinforced by the inscription “Nānā I Ke Kumu” (“Look to the Source”).
Uncirculated Mint Sets have been a core U.S. Mint product since 1947, offering collectors fresh examples of circulating coinage each year. The 2025 issue stands out as a key “transition” set: final AWQ designs, final penny year for circulation, and a culturally significant Native American dollar.
Collectibility
For modern U.S. specialists, the 2025 Uncirculated Coin Set is a natural key date in the Mint Set run. It delivers:
-
All regular-issue 2025 P & D coins in one package
-
Five one-year-only American Women quarter designs
-
The Mary Kawena Pukui Native American dollar
-
The last-year 2025 Lincoln cent, marking the end of circulating penny production
“Last year of issue” type coins have a long history of collector demand, and this set combines that appeal with low relative product limits and official Mint packaging. With only 190,000 sets available and strong public interest around the retirement of the penny, the 2025 Mint Set is positioned as a cornerstone piece for both type and date-and-mint collectors.
