Historical Significance
Utah was the 45th coin released in the 50 State Quarters Program and the fifth issue of 2007. The design honors Utah as the 45th state admitted to the Union and celebrates the driving of the golden spike at Promontory on May 10, 1869, the symbolic joining of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads.
Collectibility
This silver proof issue was included in the 2007 United States Mint 50 State Quarters Silver Proof Set, which contained all five 2007 State Quarters struck in 90% silver at San Francisco. Its lower mintage than the clad proof version and its strong railroad theme make it a desirable addition to modern silver proof quarter sets.
